THE FUN STARTS

THE FUN STARTS on Sunday afternoon (November 16, 2008) with a little something for everyone.

Are you new, or curious about, the whole idea of farming organically? Then the Transition Workshop is for you. This is an intensive series that continues throughout the conference. Attend all the sessions and you will take home a lovely certificate suitable for framing!

Are you an experienced organic farmer? You won’t want to miss the Advanced Agronomic Workshop.

Accompanying family members may want to check out the plentiful shopping opportunities within easy walking distance. Come and enjoy the Santa Claus parade on Sunday and be warmed from the inside out by organic hot cocoa and cookies distributed by Organic Connections volunteers.

Plenary Sessions

Prepare to be inspired, surprised, challenged and motivated by our line up of internationally recognized experts.

Joel Salatin from Virginia will tell us why everything he wants to do is illegal.

Do you know what Peak Oil is and why you should care? Richard Heinberg literally wrote the book on it.

Have you ever wondered about organic production in China Xingji Xiao from Nanjing knows it from the ground up. Our International Marketing Panel will complete the roundup with a peek into current and future trends and opportunities.

BREAKOUT SESSIONS

You’ll be spoiled for choice with four concurrent sessions highlighting Transitions, Sustainability, Lifestyles and Farming.  You may want to come to the conference with a friend or family member (or two) so you can attend different presentations and share notes & knowledge on the way home.. Diverse topics range from livestock, solar energy, disease or weed management to greenhouses. Whether your interest is in growing, preserving, selling or eating organic food there is something just for you. As a special treat we’ve arranged an update on the upcoming Canadian Organic Regulation. -Check out our program ->>

TRADESHOW

Our trade show has been expanded into a brand new, brighter space within TCU place. Lots of time is allotted to mix and mingle with buyers, marketers, processors, certifiers and more. The trade show floor is also the venue for our first ever Organic Connections Fashion Show!

ORGANIC INCUBATOR

The American Heritage Dictionary defines an Incubator as a place or situation that permits or encourages the formation and development of new ideas.

We are pleased to host this Organic Incubator in a welcoming and unstructured space.  Whether you want to find other people who share your particular passion or you want a few minutes of one-on-one time with some of our special guests we will be happy to accommodate you.  If you know that you want to use the space you can call us now, or we can schedule impromptu meetings at the conference, come see us at the Organic Connections booth in the trade show area.

Meeting and talking with other like-minded people is a big part of the fun at Organic Connections, you’re sure to find some here too!
